Texas A&M University -- College Station's Twelfth Man tradition was born in 1922, when injuries left the Aggies scrambling for players. The football coach called a former member from the stands and had him get ready to play. He was never needed, but when the game ended (which A&M won, BTW), he was the only man left standing on the sidelines.
